3 Entertaining Excuses for Avoiding Exercise

There are a lot of times when you do not feel like exercising. Maybe you have had a bad day and just want to get home and relax. Perhaps you are feeling a little unwell and cannot stomach the thought of the gym. However, some of the excuses people make are absolutely hilarious. In this article I outline three of the funniest excuses I have ever heard.

1) I Get My Exercise by Walking to the Donut Shop Each Day:- 1 plain donut contains around 185 calories and adding icing takes that figure to around 270 calories. Walking burns approximately 300 calories per hour so if this is going to be your daily exercise routine you better pick a donut shop that is in a different town.

2) I Cannot Exercise Because The Nike Trainers I Need Are Too Expensive:- Yes some people put the gym off until they have saved enough money for their favourite pair of trainers, no matter how long that is going to take. Obviously, it is a good investment though as those new trainers will burn a lot more calories than the cheaper, less fashionable pair.

3) I Will Waste Away If I Exercise Anymore:- Yes some people actually use this excuse to avoid exercise. They do not consider that it would take a LOT of running to ‘waste away’. Plus, resistance training can actually help them put on additional weight - the exact opposite of ‘wasting away’.

As you can probably tell this article is meant to be humorous but there is a serious message behind it. There are always times when we will make excuses not to exercise. However, if we let these excuses get the better of us then we will not make any progress with our exercise plan. You may feel to tired to exercise but do you ever stop and consider that regular exercise can help you feel more energised and refreshed in the long term? You may believe that you cannot afford the gym membership or equipment but if you look at your current spending the reality is that you probably can afford at least a pair of trainers and a few pairs of shorts to exercise in. Ultimately, the choice to exercise is down to you. If you really want to make it happen then stop making excuses, get yourself out there and start exercising.

4 Major Annoyances at the Gym

Once you have been going to the gym for some time you will start to realise that there are certain things there which annoy you. Some are just minor distractions whilst others can become quite frustrating. In this article I am going to discuss four of the things that annoy me most at the gym.

1) Cell Phoners:- These are the people who chat away on their phones in the middle of their workout. The actual chatting does not annoy me if people chat on the phone without taking up valuable equipment. However, when people talk on the phone and also take up the scarce benches in my gym it starts to get annoying. It gets even worse when people refuse to temporarily vacate the bench whilst they are on the phone. If they want to talk fine but this should not be at the expense of other people’s workouts.

2) Starers:- These are the people who do not ask how long you will be using the equipment for and do not ask if they can do alternating sets with you. Instead, they stare at you in silence in the hope that you will abandon the equipment you are using. This can be quite distracting an also rather intimidating. I would be quite happy to share the equipment or do alternating sets if these ’starers’ would just come over and ask. However, they never do and instead continue to stand and stare.

3) Bangers:- These are people who bang and clang their weights regularly as they work out. I understand that there are some points during your workout where you will inevitably bang your weights or drop them. However, when it starts to happen regularly it can get very annoying, particularly when everyone of your sets starts to get disrupted with the sound of a huge crash. There is no reason for people to bang their weights down after finishing a set. If they cannot control the weight fully throughout then they should lift a lighter weight.

4) Annoying Music:- This is probably the thing that annoys me most at my gym. They play a type of music which I am not a huge fan of and they play it loudly and constantly. The reason it annoys me so much is that it is inescapable. Everywhere you go in the gym the music is there. I think a much fairer way would be for the gym to play no music and then if people wish to listen to some as they train they can bring their own portable music player.

Exercising is generally a fun process for me. However, like with everything else going to the gym does have its bad points too. Luckily, the positives far outweigh the negatives in this case. I hope you found this article entertaining and enjoyable.

Exercise Tips For The Obese

[#3: Edit Options>MightyAdsense>Adsense Code]

Exercise is the number one suggestion made by doctors as the path to weight loss. For the extremely overweight, this option may be out of the question. Our world is not focused on gradual, we are focused on fast! Everything needs to be at our fingertips, and thus, the exercise world focuses on those they are most apt to control, the thin and athletic. The extremely overweight are the sector of people who need to most attention because they are the ones that can be hurt the most from improper exercise practices.

Traditional exercise machines are not able to hold the weight of an extremely overweight person. While treadmills offer pre programmed exercise cycles that are based upon a 150 pound user. These are the troubles that face the extremely overweight, but, exercising is a reality for weight loss. And, exercising is what must be done. Here are a few tips for the extremely overweight involving exercise.

Tip 1: Increasing the Heart Rate

The main idea of exercise is to increase the heart rate for an extended period of time. For an extremely obese person, an inflated heart rate is not that hard to achieve. The added weight makes traditional cardio difficult, but there are ways to integrate exercise without causing injury.

Swimming, walking, biking and dancing are fantastic ways to raise the heart rate and they tend to be fun. Fun and exercise need to be the best of friends for anyone to stay on track. If you are having difficulties walking for long periods of time, try sitting in a chair with a straight back and lifting your arms over your head then back to your sides. Repeat this motion and your heart rate will increase.

Tip 2: No Pain, No Gain

Yes, there will be pain associated with your workout regime. This is more so the case for people who are unable to stretch after a workout. Stretching loosens the muscles and frees the pent up lactic acid that cause pain in the muscle. The inability to stretch will leave many extremely obese people hurting badly enough that exercise is given up after just a few days.

The key to keeping your exercise pain free is two fold. You can either stretch your heart out after you finish your exercise routine, or you can start your routine very slowly. Many people find the slow approach to be the easiest one to stick with. Starting slowly means just that, progressing at a snails pace. You will want to exercise for 10 minutes, twice a day to start. Continue this program for two weeks than increase by five minutes. Again, wait two week and add another five minutes. This gradual increase in exercise will fit perfectly with your weight loss.

Tip 3: Stay Away From the Gym

I know, this tip seems like an absurd one, but there is good reason. Gyms are made, as I stated in the beginning paragraphs, for thin and athletic people. Ab machines usually have a maximum weight of 250 pounds. Treadmills are created for people who are of average weight and weight benches are too narrow for an extremely overweight body. But, just because I say to stay away from the gym does not mean you can stay away from exercise. If you wish for the gym like experience, try visiting a women’s only gym. There are many circuit based routines perfect for extremely obese person.
